About How Many Grapes Are In 1 Cup?

About how many average-sized grapes are in one cup? I am not home at the moment, so I do not have access to a food scale or a measuring cup, which is why I'm asking. Thanks!

What size grapes are they, small, medium or large.

Does it matter if you eat more than a cup this once?

Cup your hand, fill with grapes. Unless you have huge hands you'll be fine.

about 30 according to the fitness pal. I used this yesterday for green grapes and that seems about right. It's ok to estimate sometimes just don't make it a habit 100% of the time.

The answer to all of life's questions is 42. Pick a random number and go with it.

As stated, can't always be super accurate but at least you're logging it

    Well that depends.

If it's in the fermented form then you can fit a LOT of grapes in a cup. Also is it a true cup? Like a measuring cup or is it what I would consider a "cup" when it comes to fermented grapes which is goblet size?

If it's just plain ol' grapes then I think 30 is about a serving size.

What kind of grapes are they? Are you chopping them up? How small are the pieces?

In other words...stuff like that should be measured by weight, not volume.

While this is true OP is not at home and doesn't have a scale or measuring cup handy. I find this visual guide to be useful when out and about http://www.elle.com/cm/elle/images/SZ/elle-portion-control-final.jpg

buy scale, weigh food instead of guessing, enjoy, lose weight.

^^^^ This -- A cup is a measure of volume so the amount of grapes will differ depending on the size of the grapes and how many you can cram in. If you want to know how many calories they are you need to weight them otherwise it's just guess work

    42.

Darn it. Someone else had thought along the same lines. Oh well, take it as proof that the number is indeed always 42. Always.

Have you tried measuring the diameter of them individually?

As you know the best way is to weigh them. But if that's not an option are you where you can get ahold of an eight ounce drinking cup? You know, like a styrofoam coffee cup.

    Just a thought.

^^Now that is a great idea!

My snarky comment aside OP if you can't resolve the issue a guesstimate will not put you off track this once. We all tend to overestimate when we 'eyeball' portions. But for the most part we can also tell when a quantity is reasonable or not.

what about skins? do you include them or weight them before and after? do you take into consideration how hot the guy peeling the grapes for you is??

    that's a lot of variables!!

Also whether he's standing next to a pool in only swimwear or in a cabin up in the mountains all covered up in winter gear.
