Beach walking

Today I walked along the beach. I live in a coastal area but never have done the walk there because of tourists crowding the beach. So up until now I have done the elliptical at home.

Usually I burn about 300 calories on the elliptical for 35 minutes according to my heart rate monitor.
Today, I burned 428 walking the shoreline for 46 minutes. I also can only keep my heart rate in zone for maybe 20 minutes in the elliptical, today I kept it in zone for 37.

The walk was awesome, and I really liked how I seem to get more out of it. Just hope it's accurate.

I wish I had a beach to walk along!! I think your burn is higher because of the resistance difference between an elliptical and walking on sand.
