"Cheat" Day Success stories

So I lost all the weight I wanted to by using MFP, but then gained it all back. Entirely my fault because I stopped logging once I hit my goal and ate too much food and most of it was unhealthy.

I want to loose 15-20 lbs and go down to a 32-33 inch waist. I am 6'1 male 175 lbs in mid twenties w/small frame. I go to gym 5 days/week, 20 mins of cardio 30 mins of weights. Desk job. One idea I had to keep the weight off this time was to have a cheat day where I could do what I wanted those days and eat only 1500-1700 on other days. I thought this might make my weight loss permanent since I could still eat lots junk once in a while. (Nothing worse than only being able to eat like 20 chips because you are too close to your limit.) I wanted to see how many people lost weight using a cheat day, and if so did they do just one meal, not log at all, what food to eat on cheat days? I like sushi & pizza a lot.

Good luck to all in their goals.

A better approach is to eat moderate amounts of "junk" every day while staying within your calories and macros.

You will get a lot of different responses here. I personally don't use a "cheat" day. I don't limit anything. If it fits within my goals, I eat it. You could potentially blow your weekly deficit with a whole cheat day, especially if you don't keep the calories reasonable. Maybe, once a month might be better.

It could also be triggering to just eat whatever you would like if you are too strict with yourself.

Try to stay within your weekly calorie goals, instead of focusing on the daily amount... as long as you're not drastically overdoing it on the cheat days and then eating less than your BMR on regular days.

If you look at my diary, you will see some pretty large fluctuations between weekends and week days. Most of this is due to alcoholic beverages on the weekend, and/or some larger meals. But I am fairly consistent at being at or under my weekly goals, and therefore still have been losing consistently.

I work with a few guys who lift/workout and are very fit, they do basically this. They watch their intake very closely during the week and then that allows them to have beer, pizza, wings, etc on the weekend.
