Salad Causing Bloating?

I recently switched from my diet of donuts and fast food to whole foods, and the veggies are wreaking havok. I know raw veggies can cause bloating when you're not used to eating them, but it's almost enough to make me want to go back to the fast food... I can have a loose pair of pants on in the morning, and by the afternoon I'm so bloated that I can barely breathe because they're so tight.
I used to be a vegan, and I never had this issue. How long should I expect it to be before I'm not miserable? I don't want to have to live on Beano for the rest of my life!

Have you ever looked at a low FODMAP diet?

I don't know a lot about it, except that many of the foods eliminated from the diet are a variety of beans, veggies, and fruits. I do know that this diet is used by folks who have something trigger (docs don't know why or what yet) which makes it so that they can no longer tolerate certain molecules as well as they used to. Fructose malabsorption is one condition helped by this diet, but there are others.

It might be worth looking at the diet and, say, making a salad made only of the foods that are okay on the diet. See if perhaps that makes a difference, at least, you know?

While a little adjustment is expected, that level of bloating you describe sounds like there could be something else going on.
