I found this site online and decided to give it a go. I'm motivated by one simple statement said to me a couple of days ago at the doctor's office. It went like this: "Carol, you're obese - you need to lose weight and exercise." Well, I'm sure you can just imagine my shock. I didn't know one could be 5'3", 130 lbs., and clinically obese. I knew I sit at a desk all day long. I knew I eat what I want, when I want. I also knew that I never exercise. Ever. But, seriously....I wear a size 8. How could I possibly be obese??? Apparently, sitting at a desk all day, eating what one wants to eat, and never exercising...ever...is how. And I wonder why I'm so depressed. This is my life.

I remember my mom doing the same. She would work at a desk all day long, come home and cook dinner, and sit in front of the TV all night long. And she NEVER felt good. Ever. I've turned into my mother. Now, don't get me wrong - I loved my mom, and miss her every day. But, I don't want to BE her. I have two boys and a new grandson - I want to be healthier and happier for them. I used to run 6 to 8 miles a day. I remember hating every minute of the run. And I remember being on a "high" after and feeling so good all day. Why am I just remembering that? Why am I not DOING it? Because I physically can't do it right now. But, I WILL!

So, here's to getting healthier. Here's to getting happier. And maybe - just maybe - here's to being a size 4 instead of an 8...???

I wish myself, and everyone else here, luck in our endeavors (with the help of this site) as well.

Best regards,
Carol

  • You WILL do this. You have the right mind set. I wish you the best. You will feel amazing.
  • At least your doctor had the decency to tell you to shape up. You would be considered skinny-fat which is a skinny person with a fatty diet, absolutely no exercise, and sits all day at a desk. I hope that this site helps you, and that you stay motivated with entering in your calories, exercising, and living a healthy lifestyle. Good luck.
