A quick question guys. My daily eating goal is supposed to be 1,200 and I tend to eat around a 1,000 calories a day maybe 1,100 and I keep getting those You are eating to little calories!!! warnings from the food diary entries, I'm starving myself etc. But generally the only bad food I eat is take away or fast food or frozen food and now I cook all my meals my self My calories a day have gone down quite a bit naturally. Am I eating too little calories and will this affect how I lose weight???

Are you doing any exercise? If you are active and spend a number of days of the week exercising, then you are eating too few calories, because the calories you are burning exercising require you to eat additional calories.

If you aren't doing any exercise, then you are most likely okay if you are close to 1200 (in the 1000-1100 range). Still eating 1200 calories is healthier, and it won't make you lose any less weight. So if you're able to eat 1200, try to do so.

Yeah I do 1- 2 exercise classes a week. Hmm...Not sure how to boost my calories but will try and buy some snacks or something tomorrow

Yogurt is good, so is peanut butter. Both are fairly high in calories and healthy for you. You only really need to eat more on the days you exercise.
  • it's hard to tell someone that if they're under 1200 that their weight loss will stall. i think if you're close, you'll be fine.....but honestly, for me, it wasn't until i started "netting" at least 1200 calories that my body started losing weight.

i agree w/ the peanut butter recommendation and you may want to add some fruits in there. Bananas are high in calories but help you out in the sodium dept :)

okay thanks guys, I'm pretty new to the weight loss thing. I will definetly make sure I pick up some more snacks, I didn't realise that you have to eat more food if you exercise I just thought your body fed off extra fat or carbs from your body or something
