Converse

So I got a pair of converse high tops today for squatting and deadlifting. Super excited to try them out. I was using flat soled shoes before, but they had like no grip on them lol. Anyways, I was just wondering, should I leave the top 2 holes at the top unlaced? Like I mean the holes where you put the laces through. Should I leave the top 2 unlaced? Only the top unlaced? None unlaced? I'm confused. The guy at the shoe store said to leave the top 2 unlaced because you don't want to completely restrict your movement; you want some space to move around, especially if you're squatting and deadlifting. My friend said he only leaves the top ones unlaced, not the top 2. I'm super confused now lol.

First world problems.
Try 1 hole open and see if it impedes your ankle mobility on squats.. if so, go with 2 holes open.0 -
yeah....you might be overthinking this0

Go with what you feel, and adjust as needed lol0

OP some of your posts make me think that you may be overthinking to avoid getting the work done....

Let me show you something:

This was probably my third ever set of squats. Should I be worrying about shoes, or perhaps there are a few other things I should address first? New shoes can't fix that hot mess.
Get the book Starting Strength, get under the bar, video some squats and post them. We can help you get better.

Less thinking more lifting.0

I did the whole on stronglifts in bare feet because I didn't have any suitable shoes for lifting. didn't do me any harm
probably will get myself some kind of lifting shoe at some point...... I agree with everyone who said just get on with it. If I'd waited until I had all the right equipment, I'd never have started. I didn't even have a squat rack. Right now I don't even have a dumbbell (which is the only thing that's actually managed to stop me lifting lol..... but there are push-up and pistol squat varieties to tide me over
so yeah, just get on with it and stop worrying. Pick either stronglifts 5x5 or starting strength and just do the programme the way it's written0
