New needing encouragement

Hello fit or on the way to fit friends (: I'm a slow starter here... Just turned thirty and weigh in 7 pounds away from 300. My heart dropped when i seen the number at the doctors office. My body hurts my mental health is declining due to lowering self esteem. I'm really wanting to get on the right path to a healthy lifestyle. Might any of you out there be willing to friend me and be my backbone when I feel lost on this journey. I appreciate any and all friend requests given and look forward to my new journey.

  • Welcome, and don't be discouraged, a wake up call is just that, it is difficult to see the truth sometimes, and truth sometimes hurts, but its the truth, doesn't make it wrong or right, it's just the truth. The good thing is you recognize the need to change, you are on your way by just recognizing it. Now you can start by putting the 'bat' down. Stop beating yourself up. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes. You can change and you can get healthier. This is a wonderful site to help you do just that. Please feel free to add me, this journey can't be done without support.:flowerforyou:

Slow and steady wins the race. I have at least 6 friends on here who lost 150 plus pounds and have kept it off for years. It didn't take them 5 months to lose it, so taking it slow....day by day.........they lost pound by pound.

I just hit my 50 pound goal after 5 years. (do not look at my diary for info as I was ill for a few months)

Eat the allotted amount of food, exercise and eat back those calories too, and you will lose weight. Simple as that really!

I wish I had started on a strength training program as well as cardio from the beginning. It makes me feel awesome, and changes your mind/body/spirit IMHO.

Good luck hun, you can kick butt here!

I'm recently 30 as well! I battle depression too along with my all time high weight  I am at a pretty low point, but I am trying to keep at it. Some days are harder than others, and I can always use more friends I can relate to! Sending you a FR!

Welcome to MFP! You have already made the first important step - rather than going into denial when confronted with the number on the scales you have made the decision to do something about it by joining MFP & by committing to a healthier lifestyle!

I joined about a month ago and I'm finding the logging, the message boards and connecting with other MFPers via my friends new feed very helpful in keeping me motivated (especially as it keeps me accountable if things don't go as planned).

What helps me is reminding myself that I didn't put on the weight in three months so I can't realistically expect to loose it in three months.

I'll send you a friend request - we can do this!

P.S. anybody else - feel free to add me :)

Is there anyone on here that is having or has had the same problem? what did you do and how can I save money but get more food for the month?
