Smoothies

For the last 2 weeks I have been making smoothies in the morning, to get a nice serving of fruits and vegs. But on Monday I want to start to go back to the gym in the mornings ( like 6 a.m.) so I am wonder, should I make the smoothie and have it before I work out, or make it and then how do I "properly" store it for the time I am working out ??

Thanks for your help and advise.

I have a blended protein shake every weekday morning and two of those mornings I have bootcamp at 6 am. I prefer my morning workouts to be on an empty stomach but everyone is different. I just make mine when I get home after class? Do you have to take it with you straight from the gym? If that's the case maybe store it in a cooler while you're at the gym.

I also workout on an empty stomache every morning then eat my daily protein shake after for 2 reasons, 1 i really dont like to drink stored shakes they just dont taste the same, 2 because it is such an intense workout my stomache would be killing me if I ate right before.

I, on the other hand prefer having something in my tummy before working out. If you want to store it til after your workout use a cooler with ice packs.

Thanks guys; I like to work on in the morning on an emety stomach as well and I plan to.shower at the gym and straight to work so I like the ice pack idea. I'm only worried cause it has yogart in it lol and I'm weird like that it can't be warm or room temp lol

I don't know how your workplace is but can you keep your smoothie supplies at work and make them when you get there. I keep a small bender at work and sometimes will make myself one as my afternoon snack if I'm going to the gym after work.

You won't be in the gym long enough for the yogurt to go bad… Well, I say that, I'm in DC lol. I normally just make it and stick it in a cooler with an ice pack. I'm normally only there for 30-45 minutes.

When you drink it is entiery your personal preference. Do you feel better eating be a workout or better after? Base your decision on that answer to that question.

How to store it? Unless you plan on working out for over 3 hours and plan to store your gear in the sun, just a regular thermos should be fine.

I thought about that, but they don't have a blender here lol... I thought about maybe getting buying a cheap one, then I can just do it when I get here.. But I'm like do I really want to spend more money lol...

I blend ice with my smoothies, or sometimes pour them over ice. Then I put it in a double-walled tumbler or jug and put it inside an insulated lunch bag. It's usually cold for several hours that way.

This is what I have and keep it at work with all the supplies. Its less then $20 and still does a good job of blending the ice. You can also get additional cups. I found mine at Target.
