Calorie help

I don't know much about what I should be doing and I do not have any help/support from family/friends which leads me to posting my stupid questions here. I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge lol.

That being said, when I first started MFP, I was on a strict cal limit of 1200/day. After doing research, I learned that it wasn't necessarily healthy to only eat 1200 calories a day. I updated my goals, switched it to lose 1 pound per week and MFP set me at around 1400 a day. Since the switch, I have not been able to lose any weight. In fact, I actually gained 10 pounds. Any suggestions or just any help in general with what I should do?

You didnt mention if you were working out or not but if you arent I would recommend starting to ans that will help. Besides that you will have to give your body time to adjust, try setting your goal to 1300 calories for 2 weeks first then after that go back up to 1400, your metabolism needs timme to adapt and sinnce your ate at 1200 for so long it will take so time to readjust.

You need to provide more information, how long were you at 1200 and how much did you lose then? How long since the change to 1400? Do you exercise, if yes what type of activities? Do you measure and log accurately?

I cut at 1200 for about 3 months and lost a pretty good amount without feeling hungry or with low energy, and then I went to 1300, then 1400 and continued to lose until 1500. I started maintaining at 1600, continued increasing and I am now maintaining at 1900. So 1200 might not be a forbidden number for you, depending on your height, current weight and activity level.

Your diary is closed, but you may not be tracking as accurately as you think you are. Many of us log diligently, but inaccuracies in the food database can make us think that we are eating less food than we actually are. Also, if you are using MFP to log exercise, it often overestimates calorie burns (so do exercise machines themselves. I would always change the calories burned to half or two-thirds of what it says I burned.

Here is a great post on how to log accurately:
