does anyone else figure out their cost per serving? i try to do it with most things i make. what is the cheapest thing you have made and what is your FAVORITE 'cheap' thing to make?

the cheapest thing i have made is tomato soup (tomatoes from my garden, basil and cream) for $.21 a serving and my favorite is tatortot casserole (one pound hamburger, one bag frozen cut green beans, one can fat-free mushroom soup and one half bag tatortots). it is $1.13 a serving.

    i would say veggie/beef soup
2 bags frozen mixed veggies $5, generic V8 $2, browned ground beef (drained and rinsed) about $5. so that would be $12 for 5 quarts of soup.

Whole wheat bread toast with Turkey slices. I like to eat with spicy and hence will add some hot sauce.

    Turkey Chili!!

    1 lb. ground turkey - approx. $2
1 can dark red kidney beans - approx. 97 cents
1 can black beans - approx. 97 cents
1 large can diced tomatoes - approx. $1.25
    1 packet chili seasoning - approx. $1.25

Crock pot. Four hours on high, eight on high.

Makes five generous servings - about $1.28 per serving.
