It's 24 hour access so I can come when I get off work around midnight. The late hours access also means I am the only one here (like now) 70% of the time. There's nothing pretentious and no group classes - just weight shiz and cardio. It has everything I need and more for less than $35 a month. They play good tunes 85% of the time which I use for lifting, but I listen to my own when I cardio. And then there's this...

I love that it's small, all the trainers (particularly mine) are friendly and very helpful, great range of equipment, lovely sense of community and they frequently post a circuit of the day for people who haven't decided what they want to do. great range of classes too.
it's my 'safe place' -somewhere i can go when i hate the rest of the world and get stuff done, then leave feeling everything is right again.0 -
No mirrors, concrete walls, old boombox, lots of weights. Very few people in the gym. Just a place to destroy yourself with no distractions. But I can't stand people standing around talking and socializing in a gym. I go there to tear muscle and run till I'm soaked so it fits what I like.0

I like the fact that there is a weight pit free of distractions. I go down there and can feel the weight of the iron in the air!0

It's very clean and tidy, the changing room is well-appointed.
The equipment is new and kept in mint condition, there's a great range of all sorts of equipment and machines.
There's a huge range of people using the gym at all times - ages, sex, body size, health goals etc.
Everyone's very friendly, especially the PTs, they strike just the right balance between being approachable but not intrusive.
Great range of (free) classes and the instructors focus their comments on health rather than appearance.0 -
its clean and tidy and the pool is really underused i often have it to myself and swimming in undisturbed water is bliss0
