SI Joint pain can't work out :(

I have been suffering with SI Joint and hip pain for about 8 weeks now. I have been to ortho and chiropractor waiting for MRI approval to make sure I don't have any damage to my hip. I was always taking spin classes ( which is where I think the problem came from) the problem is I have not been able to do any form of exercise without pain, and I am really depressed over it. Working out is what helped me with my weight, I know I probably have put on 5 lbs since this started, I am too afraid to get on scale.
Anyone else ever have this type of injury and what did you do for it? Thank you

  • I too thought I had an SI joint injury, MRI showed herniated disc at L5S1. No squats, lunges or heavy lifting for the next few months. Was told to do yoga and swimming.

If it is SI pain there is a stretch (recommended by a Physical Medicine and Rehabiliration specialist) that helped me get back to exercising the way I wanted to:

Lie on your back on a hard surface with knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Then tilt your legs, lowering them to one side and then the other while keeping your back as flag against the floor as possible. Do this 10 times to each side, a couple of times each day. Obviously, if this causes you more pain, don't do it!

    Hope this helps.
