Essure vs Tubal Ligation

I realize this is not a weight related topic, however, I thought that with the number of women present here, I might be able to get some good feedback.
My gyne no longer performs surgery, so he's referred me to another for sterilization, and I'm awaiting the cosultation appt. Gyne #1 has suggested I have Essure (the insertion of coils into the fallopian tubes, causing scar tissue that blocks the tube), because it's done in office and is far less invasive than tubal ligation. In Googling the procedure however, I've come across numerous conflicting reports.
I'd appreciate hearing from those of you who have made this decision and what your experiences have been like.
I thank you all in advance for your input!

I had a tubal.
1) didn't want to wait the 6 months for the scar tissue to form
2) didn't want to risk they didn't close all the way
3) didn't want to have it checked periodically to make sure it hasn't opened.
4) mom had a tubal and hasn't had any more kids
6) aunt had the coil and found she was pregnant 1.5 years later. The sperm made it through a small hole and she had to have the baby moved to her uterus because it was stuck in the Fallopian tube.0 -
I have not heard of Essure - but I had a Tubal ligation 14 years ago, was simple day surgery, had about a week off work recovering, took painkillers in first day or so post op, never had any problems.0

I've had the Essure performed two years ago and it still causes pain from time to time. I was in labor for 26 hours and it wasn't as near as painful as getting the Essure procedure and my advice is to do your homework on both options. Wish I could go back in time and go for another option. Can't speak for everyone, but for me, it wasn't worth it. Hope I'm making sense.0

I had Essure done a few years ago (3 or 4 - cannot remember exactly) while it was still pretty new. It was quick and painless. What hurt like a son of a you-know-what was the procedure for testing to make sure the tissue had grown around the coils. I think I have a pretty high pain threshold, but OMG....when my dr. did the testing I broke out into a cold sweat and started shaking uncontrollably because it hurt so bad! It was very upsetting when he said that it looked like the tissue had totally surrounded only one of the two coils, so I had to continue to use precautions. I did go back a few months later to be re-tested, at which time I was told that everything was fine. Have not had to use protection ever since and have had no problems.
I don't mean to scare you about the follow up, but that was my experience.0 -
I had a tubal ligation when I had my third C-Section. That was 2005 and to put it politely, my husband have been going nonstop since then. It's been wonderful, no need to think twice about it. I wouldn't trust anything inserted that would have any side effects.0
