I'm focusing on my health to feel better. Second go round on MFP first time lost about 40 then got injured after a race. This past month down 14 lbs. I'm in the Cleveland area. I love to do yoga, spinning, running, tennis, and golf. I love being active! I just bought a heart rate monitor so I am excited to see how that helps my workouts. If anyone uses one and has success stories please share.
I am also in the beauty industry and that is a hard one to be in. I really have confidence in myself. I'm trying to do this the healthy way. I'm recovering from many years of an ED and wanting to make changes in my life and be healthy and know I can do this. I really would love motivation and friends. It doesn't help everyone thinks Asians should be these waif thin boyish sticks when I am not. My goal is to lose around 50 lbs so again would love some support!

You've got an amazing 14-pound start towards your goal, which is crazy inspiring to me. Keep it up!!!
I totally understand how difficult it is to try to live up to the ridiculous standards for Asian girls. I think being an Asian in the US makes it even MORE difficult because you've got your family and other Asians telling you you're too big but all your non-Asian friends are simultaneously telling you you're fine the way you are and it gets difficult to just know how YOU feel about your body.
I spent almost a decade with an ED trying so hard to live up to everyone else's standards before I finally broke free. Losing weight the healthy way is SO much more fulfilling and satisfying - it makes a huge difference to know your weight loss is just one of the side effects - you're also physically stronger and healthier!0 -
I grew up with my mom telling me that I had a 'beautiful face' but I was too fat. Looking back on my childhood pictures I was average! But my tiny Oriental mom... I wasn't perfect.
Had to have straight A's in school, but my weight was always a problem.
So I totally understand! I'm only 1/2 Asian, but I understand 100%.0
