Hey!
I'm not new to MFP (I joined ages go, never posted), but I AM new to actually sticking with this whole weight loss/maintenance thing. I'm 23, I'm a grad student, and I need motivation to help me get myself in shape!
I've always been a little on the heavier side for my frame, but I was super athletic in high school and intermittently through college and beyond (I played tennis very actively for about 10 years, roller derby sporadically). I really love being outside and playing sports and all of that, but it's getting difficult to rely on the occasional hike or sports game to keep me fit. I recently was also diagnosed with PCOS and I've heard that losing some weight can help balance hormones, so I'd like to give it a shot (if anyone has experience with PCOS and weight loss success, I'd love to hear from you). I noticed that even though I haven't gained a lot of weight recently, I'm not as toned and fit as I used to be -- I used to average around 135 in high school and early college, but I had a lot of muscle mass from all the athletics. I'd really like to get back to that level of fitness.
My starting weight is approx 155 (I don't own a scale so I'm rounding up from my last weighing at the doc's), and hoping to get down to 125. I just joined a gym today and have a bunch of classes lined up this week so I'm excited!
I really liked reading some of the success stories here and I like how supportive this forum is, so I'm looking forward to this lil adventure!
xx
