A mix of protein and carbs is ideal.

Protein shake with half of a banana.

    Nonfat yogurt with fruit.

Whole grain toast with natural peanut butter and banana.

Bean dip or hummus on pita bread.

Tunafish made with fat-free mayo or mixed with a little olive oil and lemon juice on whole grain bread.

Low fat turkey or ham with fresh apple or pear slices.

    Hope this helps!

I prefer a higher ratio of protien to carbs but PRIOR to it more carbs than protien. Protien fuels and repairs tired muscles so thats why it is a great choice. High fiber cereal is great with milk(soy works well here)

Over the years, I've found that not eating before my workouts works better for me. I exercise in the morning fueled by my morning coffee :drinker: and have found that when my body has to pull from it's fat stores, I lose the weight faster. After working out, I wait about a half hour to eat so my metabolism will continue to burn any stored fat. And of course I drink water like crazy! And I agree with the cereal/soy milk suggestion! Yum!

I was the same way before I had my son...I'd get up and go running...sometimes have my coffee first if I had time...but otherwise, up, wash face, put on sneakers, hair in ponytail...out the door! lol

I was at my thinnest and best shape ever too...I always thought it was because it was a first thing in the morning thing with me...that my body burned the fires better when I jump started it like that....

but now its out of the question to get one in like that....so I'm hopeful I can achieve the same results w/ later workouts...but it seems a bit harder....could be my age too LOL...oh well...good point though!

    hugs!!

Thanks for the suggestions. I just finished a good workout so I'm off to have a snack.
