Didn't work out, lost 4 lbs?

OKay, so I weight myself every day, yes EVERYDAY! I've been 240lb for 3 years now, just "going by how I feel" and clearly that hasn't worked for me. So, new goals, new trainer, new fitness program and MFP. This week was psycho busy and I didn't make it to the gym Fri, Sat or Sun. Just ran around doing farm girl stuff with the kids. Step on the scale this morning expecting the worst and who'd a thunk it, I lost 4 lbs. What the??? Insights anyone? Clearly I'm not going to slack off every weekend, but that was such a great surprise. I'm just curious on the science behind it. If anyone knows please share.

This happened to me last week. I usually workout 6 times/week but only made it 3 times. I weighed myself after the 3 missed workouts and had lost 2.5 pounds, enough to get me down into my healthy weight range. I didn't log it, though, because I knew that I would go back up as soon as I worked out on Saturday and, sure enough, I was back up the 2.5 pounds when I had my official weigh in day yesterday.

Your muscles store water in them to help recover. You can lose that water when you are not working out. That's why you will see such a fluctuation when you have several days of not working out. Just keep in mind that it is possible you will see the scale go back up once you workout again.
