I lost about 60 lbs but then got pregnant (long story) ended up losing the baby and had a hysterectomy. moved, stress, yada yada, EXCUSES = I gained weight. I was not at my goal weight when I started gaining, so now I have 29 lbs to lose and I am basically starting over. it is depressing me and I can't get motivated. I joined a new gym near my new house and I love it, I go 4 times per week (heavy lifting + cardio) but i'm just having the toughest time getting my groove back. anyone been there? how did you cope?

Wow you have had a lot of major changes recently, so give yourself a break. It's normal to feel a bit downhearted after losing a baby and having major surgery. You have only gained back about half of what you lost before so think of it as you are already halfway there (because you probably could have easily gained back all of it). You also mentioned that you love going to the gym. You are absolutely back in the groove if you are doing that and exercise is a natural mood enhancer. Even if your food intake is not yet the best you are doing great because you are exercising which is important for your mind and body. Just do the eating thing one day at a time. One meal at a time. If you have a bad eating day, don't sweat it, just start over again the next day. Slow and steady wins the race. You might also want to look into professional counseling if you can't shake the depression. Sometimes just having someone to talk things through and learn the best coping skills for you is what a person needs. Good luck to you.0

Small steps.....a few good days in a row will help you build some momentum.

Been there done that. It seems I get into a slump periodically but I haven't quit. I have found other physical activities other than the gym all the time. I get tired of routine all the time. I joined a bowling league this past summer for seniors only. I meet new people while I am exercising. I also like to turn on my CD collection and shuffle the CD"s. I dance or do movements when I am in the kitchen cleaning up after cooking or preparing a meal. It doesn't take a steady 10-15 minutes but it does get your metabolism going. Hope this helps you! DON'T QUIT!

>> This.
Do something small, whether it's going for a walk, using the elliptical, something, for even 20 minutes a few times this week. Just get moving. I promise, the motivation will catch up to your actions.0 -

thank you to everyone!!!
the above was so very helpful to me. esp about giving myself a break, which I do not do. you are right, I could have very easily gained back all my weight, so I need to be thankful that I did as well as I did, could have been worse. I guess the eating will be the hardest to get back into, although I do have a food scale and I have been good about logging and eating as well as I can.
thanks again to everyone - very helpful!!!0
