Hello,
When do you weigh your meat? Before or after you cook it? THANKS!

  • I think it's 3 oz after cooking or 3.5 before

After definitely. Meat always shrinks during the cooking process. Unless you drink all the fat drippings, lol, weigh it after cooking.

depends what i am making. if it just the meat by itself i weigh after. If its a dish that has meat in it like soup, spaghetti w/ meatballs, etc i weigh before and then use the recipie creator to determine what one serving is as a whole. Whatever you do, just use the cals for that, if its raw, look up raw. If its cooked then look up roasted or stewed, baked whatever the case may be. Depending how you are preparing the meat has alot to do w/ how many cals are in the final dish. There can be a big swing on a 2oz chicken drumstick based on whether its fried, battered, baked, boiled etc. Too much info. Just go cook! :)
  • hmm good question. i ran into a similar problem with pasta - cooked vs raw?
  • Oh yes I was wondering the same thing the other day. I did it before hand but I dont know if thats right.
