What did I get myself into?

I recently got a hybrid bike. (Cannondale Quick). I have literally not ridden a bike since I was a child, save one sad experience as a teenager on a bike that was too small. My family loves to ride bikes, so my husband talked me into getting this one.
So naturally, a good friend who I run with has decided we should participate in a local group ride that claims to be beginner-friendly. Next Wednesday I am going for an "easy and conversational 25-30 miles." Ummmm.....I am terrified. I am afraid that I will either not be able to keep up, or will just fall off my bike. (This is a valid fear, since my maiden voyage included me falling over, nearly running over a random man by accident, and somehow popping the chain off my bike).
So what do I need to know? This is a "no drop" ride.... I don't even know what that means. I have a helmet. I don't have cycling shorts or special shoes. Fitness-wise, I am getting more fit every day. I am currently training with a local Galloway group for a half marathon, and run (well, run/walk) approximately 20-30 miles per week. My average pace is around 13:45/mile. I don't know if I am fit enough to manage this ride. It is so far outside of my comfort zone!
Somebody give me the reality check I need! Will I make it or go down in a spectacular blaze of glory?

"no drop" means everyone gets back with the company of the group (at least part of it). Go out ... be honest with those leading the group about your current skill level ... and ride your bike.0

you can do it!!!!-just remember to mainly have fun and do your best that you can do and that will be good enough0

I'd take the bike out for a ride before Wednesday to see if I could do even half that distance. I would be telling your friends your concerns too.0

I would definitely do some bike riding before Wednesday, as bike riding uses your muscles in a different way than running. Also, how long is the trip supposed to take? In other words, how fast are you expected to be able to ride?0

I was very clear with the organizers of the ride when I inquired, and they all told me to come along. I am going to try to go out for 10-15 miles on Sunday if the weather cooperates.
This particular group is called Moms on Bikes, and they all were very kind, and welcoming, so I think they understand that I am as green as they come.
All that said, I'm still feeling nervous.0 -

Good question...they said it would take about 2-2.5 hours.0 -
Everything people said above + get some bike shorts. You will be very sore after 25-30 miles without them.0

Good suggestion. I will take care of this over the weekend.0 -
I think you can buy padded bike shorts for long distance riding.0
