CAN I DRINK WINE? PLEASE HELP!

Hi,

I'm losing weight at a healthy pace. I just need to know, if I continue to eat healthily and workout daily (my workouts on average burn around 750 calories) can I drink wine say once a week? I'm drinking wine as we speak but I'm scared it's gonna make me gain weight?

Please help!

PS. bloating and water weight I'm not afraid of...it happens and it happens a LOT, I can deal with it. I'm talking about fat moreso. Even if I workout (doubling my workouts where necessary) will the calories from alcohol STILL store as fat? I don't know how it works when it comes to alcohol. Please help!

PPS. I'm drinking dry white. x

Doesn't matter what you eat or drink to lose weight. Weight loss is eating at a deficit. As long as you stay at a deficit you're fine. Calories in vs. calories out. You could lose weight eating tacos and ice cream the entire time.

I drink beer a couple times a week, still losing weight. Hit your calorie goals and you'll be fine OP.

Of course you can. Why couldn't you? I find that I almost always go over my daily allowance if I drink 2 glasses of wine but I'm sure you can set yourself up not to go over. Especially with those 750 burns...What are you doing, may I ask?

I drink more often than that (...I'm 24, so sue me...lol) and have lost and still losing.

    :)

Just stay within your deficit, I really doubt a spot of wine here or there is going to have that serious of an impact as long as you're not chugging a bottle a night and log it honestly.

    :)

Just count in the calories and adjust other food/beverages. It will be fine.

If you can fit the wine into your calories, enjoy it. If you drink it in excess of your other logged calories, it could affect your weight loss depending on how large your normal deficit is.

Wine has about 25 calories per liquid ounce. So a 5-ounce glass is 125 calories. I usually have a cocktail before dinner and, fairly often, a glass of wine with dinner. I've lost 60 pounds over the last 20 months. I log calories from alcohol, stay under my goal, and lose weight.

Yes you can but keep in mind that it DOES hinder your weight loss efforts. At the beginning of the month I have cut out (barring events that crop up during the week) drinking during the week, limiting myself to the weekends and I have seen a huge difference in my body and the scale since doing this.

Alcohol has calories regardless of what kind it is and yes, weight loss is based on a calorie deficit and you can conceivably eat less so that you can drink your calories but it doesn't always happen that way. Not only that but when you drink you tend to eat more and make poor choices with your food.

You don't have to give up drinking but just be mindful that it can hinder your efforts.

Depends on what kind of wine you're drinking. Whites are typically less calories while a something like a cabernet could have 150-200 calories per glass.

    Okay great! Thanks!

I do Tae Bo daily & use FitnessBlender's free videos on their website. I work out every day after work and do several different workouts on the weekend at different points throughout the day.

Not always this intense but I'm trying to reach a new goal then I'll calm down a bit and maintain until my next goal. It just means I get to party and eat treats for a bit before my next losing mission you know what I mean? This just works for me. x

If you can log it and hit your goals, you can eat (or drink) it.

    Alcohol metabolizes differently. See

At the very worst, log it and move on.
