yesterday i bought a container of Jillian Michaels Whey protein powder chocolate mix. this morning i mixed it in with my oatmeal, i had 2 slices of whole grain toast with 1/2 T of jif natural peanut butter on each and 1 drank 16oz of water before i ate. i love to spread my oatmeal on my toast so that is what i did with 1 slice. all was good until i took a bite of the oatmeal alone. i wound up in bathroom sick. so my question is what did i do wrong?:frown: is there such a thing as too much protein? i will try it again mixed with water, later. but just wanted some opinions.

Ive never had any problem with it. I usually have that protein powder mixed with ice, almond breeze, peanut butter and banana. It fills me up.0

Maybe your stomach just got overwhelmed from all the different foods. Another possibility is the water did it. If you aren't used to drinking a lot of water in the morning it might have upset your stomach. Or the protein may have something in it that upset your stomach. You could try a different protein. Maybe eat the protein seperate as a shake for a snack. Hope you find the cause.0

Could be that that stuff didn't agree with you.the only time I use a protein drinks is after my workout for muscle recovery,
and I use ESA low carb already made protein drinks.I would try something eles.:flowerforyou:0 -
Hmm... that's weird. There is such a thing as protein poisoning, but you'd have to be eating a ridiculous amount (like several hundred grams), and I doubt you got that in your breakfast. I use the generic Kroger (local grocery chain) whey protein powder, and I've never gotten sick from that. Maybe you're coming down with something? Or maybe something had expired? And I don't know your situation, but could it be morning sickness?0

Was the water cold? if so you might have chilled your stomach.0

One mistake is you bought Jillian Michaels product. Overpriced for crappy substance. 100 cals & 15g of protein?
Look for a good whey isolate protein. For example, the stuff I'm using (Precision Iso-Pro Chocolate) is 150 cals, 0.3g fat, 1g carb, with 35g of protein. As you can see, only 50% more cals, but 233% more protein, which also means you can stretch out your portions alot more out of the same container.
Of all the different protein supplements I've tried over the years, none are perfect. Some mix great and taste like crap, some taste fantastic but don't mix very well, etc etc. The Iso-Pro I have now mixes very well and the taste is acceptable if just drinking it on it's own, and pretty good if you mix it with other things. I use it with my cereal in the morning. I cup of milk, 1 scoop of protein, pour over the cereal. Very hardy breaky.0 -

thanks to all for the replys. yes the water was cold so that could of been it. i wondered the same thing as far as the combination of foods. i had just finished exercising of which i do exercise 2-3 mornings out of the week, the other days are evenings. maybe that was just too much on an empty stomach. ok. thanks again. going to try again but as a drink and do it in the afternoon or as a drink after i have breakfast. :flowerforyou:0

I don't know about anyone else, sometimes I think it's just a personal thing for me, but I can't drink water before I eat. It makes me nauseous and I either don't end up eating or I throw up what I ate afterwards. It's always been this way for me. I was in the Air Force a million years ago and in basic training they would make us drink 2 glasses of water before we could eat (to keep us hydrated) - I would always end up sick after I ate. I don't have a problem if I drink water after I eat, though. ???0

I have the biggest loser protein drink stuff and I can't stand it. How would you whip it up so it's not so chalky?0

Some people can't handle protein supplements in large doses. If I have more then 25 grams of protein from powders or bars, I'm in the bathroom. Yet, I can eat 30-35 grams of protein in the form of whole foods and don't have a problem. Yes, that's even with pure whey isolate which is suppose to be the most biologically available. So, if you like the taste and don't want to waste the product, you might try cutting your dosage of it to see if maybe it was too much processed protein for you with the other protein you were getting in that breakfast.0
