5:2 Alternate Fasting Diet - Any comment?

I'm planning to try the 5:2 Alternate Fasting Diet mainly for health reasons such as blood sugar and cloresterol. I just want more information from anybody who has done it before.

In short, I will pick 2 days out of the week which I will restrict my calorie intake to 600 Cal and then do my normal intake on the rest of the week.

A little bit about myself. I'm 40 and in good health and very active. No weight problem and regularly exercise.

Note: I got this from BBC Eat, Fast, and Live Longer.

There's a 5:2 group on here which I think you should join. The guys there are really helpful and motivational. I have been doing 5:2 for about a month now and have lost 4 kilos ( I only had 8 total to lose). I love it because I only feel like I'm dieting 2 days a week and the rest I pretty much eat what I want but do keep to my maintenance calories. Suprisedly the fasting days are not that difficult especially when you find some low calorie meals so you can eat multiple times a day

I love the 5:2 diet it has really enabled me to reach my goals. I too started after watching the documentary in October 2013. While the loses for me have been really slow its taken me 11 months to get to where I wanted and the last two months I have really hovered at the same weight. I think its an awesome diet completely fits into my life. Can't say I look forward to fast days but they are really easy.
I didn't really make any fitness goals and really only walk the dog. Weight loss would have been quicker I think if I had but as I said really happy with this lifestyle choice.

Just wondering if you have any bloody sugar or cholesterol issues?

I have no problem with the diet if it suits your schedule.

My Dad is a type 2 diabetic and started on ADF (I think he is crazy jumping into the hardest ones) and lost some weight (was already healthy weight range) and his blood glucose levels got a bit better also. Unsure if this was due to weight loss or the fasting though.

He eventually had to drop to 2 days a week fasting and then 1 as he was still losing weight. Couldn't eat enough on the regular eating days.

I have done 5:2 myself but don't have any BS or cholesterol issues. I didn't like it very much compared to daily fasting skipping breakfast as I can eat too much if I want to. (no cal tracking). I wasn't doing it for the supposed health benefits though, I just like to experiment with different strategies.
