Elevated Liver Enzymes

Hello to All:
I recently have become a member and I am currently looking for some answers on why my liver enzymes might be elevated. Tested about 2 weeks ago and got the following results:
ALT (SGPT) 142.0 listed normal range is 13.0 - 69.0
AST (SGOT) 68.0 listed normal range is 15.0 - 46.0
Will be retesting in 3 to 4 weeks looking for these levels to fall. I am currently on diet and looking to lose 40 pounds. I have lost 11 pounds in 7 days on a 2000 calorie diet some exercise. Does anyone have any comments that might help for me to know or what I should think about these results?

Could be lots of reasons, but could be one simple one. If you are significantly overweight your liver cells can become mishaped and that throws off your enzymes. I had never heard of this until I saw an Internist about 5-6 years ago and I was morbidly obese. He told me that there could be severla reasons but he really wanted me to lose weight and that once my cells were back to a normal or near normal size my enzymes would more than likely level out. 100+ pounds later I can tell you my enzymes are within normal limits on every blood test I've had for the last 4 years.
In the mean time you should probably watch your alcohol intake, exercise regularly and of course, lose weight (but that's why you're here!) I'm certainly not a doctor but that's my 2 cents worth of advice to you.0 -
I don't know much about it, but stay away from Acetaminophen. It is bad on the liver.0

Talk to your doctor! He/She would be the best person to ask!0

I do not drink any alcohol of any kind and I only take Acetaminophen when needed for a headache, which is once in a blue moon. The only thing I can think of is that I need to lose the weight and exercise and the levels will drop on their own.0
