Targeting hips at the gym

I'm just under a third through my journey, but as I'm going on im developing a very strange body shape. My waist is getting smaller and smaller, but my hips aren't. There's an 11" difference between them both at the moment. So what can I do to start evening it out?! Particularly at the gym as I prefer to work out on machines rather than at home. Or is this just another place, like face fat, where you just have to loose weight from all over for it to come off?

    Comes off all over.

That said: Poliquin biosignature might provide some clues. Dunno how true this is. Many people say you can't spot reduce. Women's health magazines comically go on about doing crunches and planks. Yet, Poliquin biosignature talks about hormones.

    Anyone?

As mentioned, can't spot, so just keep doing what you're doing.

The real truth is that fat comes off your body the way it wants to. So, the notion of "spot toning" is largely a myth.

It sounds like you may well have an hour-glass shape, and certainly this was considered, at one time, to be the ideal of beauty.... 36"-26"-36" (or, perhaps you are a a pear shape)

On the good side, the fact that your waist is reducing and that most of your excess weight is carried in the lower body (hips, thighs, bum), this actually puts you at less risk for heart. (You don't want to carry too much fat in your middle). So, be a little thankful for that. It's a genetic bonus that you have. :)

But in general, just keep on working. Walk, run, lift, bend - do different sorts of activities, to create a generally fit body that pays attention to aerobic fitness, strength and flexibility and over time, your body will reveal it's true shape and type. (Fit, well, healthy bodies of all types or styles are attractive.)

Congratulations on your journey so far! It sounds like you are doing great!

This is going to sound really weird, but the day I went for strength, flexibility and endurance is the day it seemed that the weight started coming off my hips. Seriously. The more total body and upper body work I do, the smaller my hips seem to get. Wild stuff.

Add more muscle, that will let you burn fat quicker and makes everything look tight.
