Does any one have any good pointers or web site that I would use to train for a 5K. I already do 3 to 5 mile runs but my time is any where from 12-15 min miles so I want to improve some.
Thanks in advance!!
Happy New Year!!

Search Runners World website. I'm trying to improve my 12-13 min mile time so I've added a short (2mile) run during the week, but at a faster pace. Running sprints will help too.0

Speed training is the best way to lower your 5k times...Yeah, it sux's, but if you want to lower your times that's the best way. Start off with (4) 220's then graduate up to 440's and if you feel froggy, 880's (not all in the same workout though...lol). Be careful not to push yourself too hard starting off, ever heard of shin splints...ouch.. Another break from regular speed work is Fartleks, it's called "Speed Play", where you accelerate to race pace or faster for either a specific distance or time...It get's your body used to pushing itself. Be sure you give yourself recover time inbetween speed work and your next workout, minimum of 1 day (probably at least 2), your next workout should not be too demanding. In my younger days, I trained for Triathalons, 1/2 Marathons and the weekend 5 k's. Hope this helps you out a little....0

I ran in my first 5k this past October, my time was 32 minutes. I started out on the Couch to 5k program.0

Was just looking on the forums for anyone else looking to start running. I've been doing a lot of reading and think I could do the C25k program, here's a few links I found that you might find useful:

All the best x
