Macronutrient Counting

Hi Everybody
I just wanted to ask a question regarding working out the Macronutrients of different foods. When you take a look at the nutritonal information of most foods it usually gives you a run down of each macronutrient per 100 gram. So for example in a packet of the Tilda Wholegrain Pilau Rice per 100 gram there is 26.0 grams of Carbohydrates. So say if I wanted to work out how many Carbs are in 20 grams of the rice, would it be accurate to take a percentage value, for example if 100% = 26.0 grams of Carbs, then 20% = 5.2 grams of Carbs. In other words 20 grams of the rice = 5.2 grams of carbs?
Hope I was clear anyway, absolute nightmare to try and explain
Thanks in advance for any insight

I think your calculation is correct. However, if you find your food in the database or if you enter/edit it as a new food, once you adjust the portion, it will automatically adjust the macro counts.
Also the usda site will allow you to put in actual weights and see the resulting breakdown. ...if they have your food in there.

Good stuff, thanks for the feedback and advice mate.0

You're quite welcome
That's what is so lovely about these databases; once you've got your serving size weighed or measured all ya gotta do is hit enter.
I sometimes enter a food into my diary that I am just thinking about in order to check calories and macros and then just delete it.
I do check that the regular serving amount is correct per my label or the udsa site to make sure I'm working with good numbers to begin with. Lots of incorrect/homemade entries here on MFP. I'll either look for another entry or edit one that is close to the right numbers.0 -
Yeah its really handy, i'm completely new to the site, or rather I registered for it a few months ago and then never really used it lol. So was messing about with the database their yesterday for the first time and adding food and deleting as you said just to check out the macros for different serving sizes.
Its definitely what I need as counting the calories manually can be a complete pain in the *kitten* lol.0
