Insanity results

Hi

I am half way through my recovery week of insanity! I LOVE INSANITY SO FAR!

So far I have gained 4lbs since day 1 :-/ and lost 2 inches off my waist to date. Everything else is the same! I eat healthily and drink lots of water each day. I can tell a 'very' slight difference on my tummy, that's it.

Can I expect better results in month 2? And what can I do to help get maximum results?

Thanks! :)

    Hi Buckers84.
Well done on your first month!
I'm just in week 3 Month 1 so am a little ways behind you. There are a couple of insanity threads running on this board, and you only have to read through to find that you are not alone! Lots of people swear by measuring more than just your waist (I'm measuring the fatest parts of my calves, thighs, hips, arms and neck, and the thinest part of my waist - and I've lost just over 3 inches in 3 weeks even though I have 'only' lost 3lb). I have always counted on the scale alone so am stuggling to see the victory in the inches but am assured it is signs of progress!
They also say that Month 2 is mental but is where the fat melts off and the muscles you have been developing in Month 1 have a chance to peek out.
Oh, and the general advice is also to ignore the MFP calorie calculation and find a better calculator based on your bmr etc, or at the least use a heart rate monitor, accurately measure how many calories you are burning and then eat 3/4 of them! Oddly enough, eating more works when you are workign out at this level... or at least, that is what I'm reading - but go on the forums and check it out for yourself. :-)
  • 100% support for ignoring weight and just using measurements all over (thighs/calves/chest/waist/arms etc...).

I finished the programme, losing a whopping 3 or 4lbs in total :) However, I lost inches all over and toned up considerably. It really is worth finishing, just ignore that scale.

Month 2 is hard, but to be honest I found the hardest part was finding the time for the extra 20 minutes or so the workouts take (job, 3 kids, wife etc..). Otherwise, you'll settle into the rhythm like you did with month 1 and the inches will continue to fall off.

Also, and your experience may vary, I worked out in the bedroom and saw myself every single day in our large mirror so I never really noticed myself looking too different. It wasn't until I was submitting my day 1 and day 60 photos (can't say no to a free t-shirt) that I really noticed the difference, and friends that I only see every 4 or 5 weeks have said it's considerably noticeable.

I had realistic expectations and I'm very happy with what I achieved. I've continued with it, and I'll see where I am by Xmas.
  • Thank you for your replies!! Both very helpful! I'm very impatient haha! Or just like to know I'm working towards something worthwhile.

I have taken full body measurements it's only my waist that has changed. The 4lb weight gain within the first two weeks was the worry as no one else seems to have the same problem. Although like you say inches are better to go by. I'll keep going I'm not getting disheartened by it as sooooo many people rave about it. ☺️

    +1

I lost quite a bit of weight when I did insanity (maybe 15 pounds) but I had quite a bit to lose then. I also get extremely bored with DVDs so I did it every other day so i could do outdoor activities (cycling, golf) on the off days. Took twice as long to complete, but it took me more than 24 hours to recover from the Shaun T's shout of "ALRIGHT PEOPLE - LEVEL 1 DRILLS!"
