Just something I put together every year for my clients and friends to get started with their workouts or add on to their normal workouts. I figured we could do a challenge here where we check in daily to see who can do all the challenges for the whole month of January. Sorry, MFP cuts off the image, but you should be able to right click and save image as to get the whole thing. If not, you can follow the link below to my actual photobucket page for the full image.

Did anyone else do todays challenge? It was to figure your Target Heart Rate and test your cardiorespiratory endurance.

I did mine using the Karvonen Formula and got a range of 136 to 164 beats per minute.

If you want to try the Karvonen Formula, this site (http://exercise.about.com/cs/fitnesstools/g/karvonen.htm) explains how to do the math pretty well.

I also tested my cardio endurance by doing a 3 minute step test with a heart rate of 129, which is fair, but I had taken my asthma and allergy medication this morning, so it would be a little higher then normal. I also did a VO2 test, but don't feel it was accurate at all because of my physical limitations while dealing with a broken tailbone. I intend to do another one at school on a piece of equipment other then the treadmill so I don't have my physical limitations stop me from getting an accurate VO2 max reading. I also posted a blog about how to do various fitness assessments if you are unfamiliar with cardio tests and want to give them a try. Just surf over to my profile and check my blog. ;)
  • 60 minutes - check :) Not walking, but pilates and circuits.

I didn't get the walk in because I just wasn't feeling good. My BFF has a cold and I think I'm trying to come down with it too, so I got a 25 minute kettlebell workout but nothing else. Since I did the testing for today on Saturday, though, I'll do yesterdays walk today instead.
