30 Day Squat Challenge

I'm starting a 30 Day Squat Challenge today. A couple of weeks ago when I tried to do an Abs Challenge with my daughter I pulled a muscle in my side and missed 6 days of work! I figure my legs are pretty strong already from carrying me around all these years so here I go!

This is not a good challenge to do. It is overloading the body in an unhealthy way. If you want to start squatting go to the gym and include a beginner program like Starting Strength or Strong Lifts. Doing 100+ squats a day will not grow or shrink your butt.

Thank you, good to know, but since I don't have easy access to a gym in my area, what else would you suggest I do instead? I'm at my goal and want to firm up, especially my butt and thighs.

Can you work out at home? You can try DVD's like Body Shred or PiYo for a nice all around workout. Zumba is fun if you like dance fitness that's fairly easy to follow. Ballet Beautiful is super simple and surprisingly hardcore.

Lots and lots of squats!!! LOL You start @ 50 a day and add 5-10 per day with a rest day every 3rd day, by the end you are doing 250 (if I remember correctly). Maybe I should add that I'm 54 (today is my birthday!) and I work as a school custodian, so I'm pretty physically active.
  • Why not do the challenge posted on http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/ ? At least that has achievable goals and rest days built in. 250 squats a day seems far too excessive.

Thank you all and especially EvelineUk. I just checked out the MFP Squat Challenge and does seem to make more sense. I guess today is the day I start on a squat challenge!:drinker:
