trans fat in cashew milk?

Hello,

I have been using MFP for a few weeks and was viewing some of the reports/graphs and noticed that I was somehow getting trans fats showing up. So I checked my foods and MFP shows homemade cashew milk as having 4 trans fats....how can that be? Cashew milk is just cashews and water......there are no trans fats in cashews right?

here is a link to the MFP homemade cashew milk nutrition data

Most of the MFP database is data entered by users. A lot of it isn't correct. There are no trans fats in nuts.

I would make your own entry, though how you know how many calories left the nut pulp and entered the water, I have no idea. Cashews are expensive. Do you really whir them in water then throw them away? I would have trouble doing that! If you use the 'milk' and the nut pulp, I would just make sure that all the nut calories are in one of the two, or they sum to the total calories.

    Thanks!

No, I don't throw them away. The nice thing about cashew milk is that the cashews are soft and therefore blend very well and you don't have to strain the milk like you do for almond milk. that's why i prefer it over other nut milks. You use the entire thing....no waste and it's much much creamier than other nut milks.

    Oh! I feel better! lol

I would just log the milk as raw cashews then. Look for database entries without an asterisk. Those are ones not created by users.
