Loss per week?

I'm curious, how much are/have people lost/loosing a week roughly? I've reduced my calorie intake and do occasional light exercise and in the past month I've lost 9 pounds. Interested in comparing to different lifestyles.

The optimal amount of weight to lose, after the first week or two due to most of that being water weight, is .5-1% of bodyweight average a week (this is what has been found to maximize the retention of lean body mass). So don't look at it week to week, but look at your average weekly loss over a period of a couple of weeks.

Most people are losing 1 to 2 pounds a week.

The morbidly obese can lose faster. The already-thin will generally lose slower.

I do not lose without exercise, but most people can. Well, I could, too, if I ate like 500 calories a day, lol. (Not likely.)

MFP said I could lose 2 lbs/week based on my input. Then I noticed I had entered my age wrong. After I corrected the error, the weight loss possible dropped to 1.4 lbs/week. Recalculating after the first 10 lbs. were lost, dropped that number to 0.9 lbs/week. Damn menopause.

I just started. I have lost 8 lbs this month, but it hasn't been steady. I lost 5 lbs quickly and then it slowed down.

My average over 20 weeks is about 1.8 lbs/week.
Thats been pretty consistent and level, with only one week of a gain (not an unexpected one given it was a trip to family).

I started at 240 lbs though. I'm sure the rate will start decreasing soon.
