Trader joes russet potatoes....

Does anyone else buy these? They're in a bag of about 6 of em and the calorie info is on the back. They seem like medium sized potatoes but they say on the back that they only have 110 calories each. Is this really accurate?! When I search for "potato," a medium sized one has more like 200-280 calories. I don't have a food scale and don't plan on buying one, so I'd like to know if any of you have any knowledge on this! Thanks!

What's the serving size?0

Well, by weight a russet has about 80 calories for every 100g's and lots of goodness built in.0

does the entire bag not have a weight on it? normally I thought bagged potatoes are sold in 5 lb bag, or 10 lb bag, or what not.0

Yeah, they're in a 5lb bag. Serving size says one potato.0

Yeah, they're in a 5lb bag. Serving size says one potato.
ok given that the 5 lb is an estimate, we can still deduce something about the 6 potatoes
5 lb is 2267 grams. Someone else said russets are about 80 c for 100g. That'd be about 1813 calories for 5 lb of potatoes, divided by 6 should ballpark your potatoes around 302 calories each.
Now if there were actually 7 in the bag that would be less for each, but it sounds like what you looked up is a closer estimate than what the bag says.
Next time you might try weighing the bag before you leave the store so you can at least know the weight of the total bag. If you are going to eventually eat the whole bag your logging would be correct over time even if all 6 potatoes weren't the exact same size.0 -
Just an observation, but when is a medium potato almost 1lb, jeeesus.0

Cool, just the answer I was looking for, thanks! There might only be 5 potatoes, I can't remember, but I like the idea of weighing out the bag at the store. Good call.0 -

Lol I didn't even think of that. Yeah, that doesn't quite make sense!
EDIT: I'm totally wrong. I just checked the bag and it's only 3lbs! So that means if there are 5 potatoes, they're 218 calories each or for 6 potatoes they are 181 calories each. Man, how can the bag get it so wrong?0 -
... buy a good scale? In my experience a potato is never 110 calories. 148g is typically for a pretty small one, even if they say it's the size of medium ones.0
