What to drink for breakfast?

Hey all,
Typically my breakfast consists of fruit (berries, apple or banana), 2 eggs, maybe a slice of bacon or multi grain toast or oatmeal. But my biggest issue is what to drink with breakfast? I don't like coffee and other hot drinks, I don't like orange juice and my husband won't drink anything other than cranberry juice cocktail which is useless. So that leaves me with milk or apple juice. The 8 oz of no sugar added apple juice take up half my sugar allotment for the day. So I'm looking for suggestions... what do you all drink with your breakfast?
My friend is a trainer and she told me that breakfast needs to be my main meal of the day especially since I work out in the mornings so I don't want to replace it with a quick smoothie.
Thanks!

I drink 2 large glasses of water!
Wakes me up and hydrates me beautifully!0 -
Water (with or without flavoring)? Unsweetened almond milk?0
-
I love me some green tea with honey0

If you don't do coffee or tea, I would do just water.0

Green tea and water0

The sugar on MFP is set really low and many people here don't bother staying under it unless there's a medical issue present. If you have the calories for it, drink the apple juice if you want it. If I have enough calories, I like milk, but I don't do breakfast typically. Also, "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" is a myth. Eat whenever you want.0

Hot water with lemon in it, delicious, green tea, or buy a juicer and make a fresh juice.0

I feel like this is a trick question. Why are your only options milk and juice...and not water?
If you're drinking apple juice, you may as well be having a Coke with breakfast if you prefer it.0 -
Cold-brewed coffee with chocolate almond milk added.0
-
Hot water with a slice of lemon
Herbal flavoured teas
Green tea/ Peppermint tea
Water
Smoothies
Protein shake0 -
I usually have a diet coke with breakfast. It seems to work fine for me.0

Being from the South, I generally have water or unsweet iced tea for breakfast, lol. If you want to avoid all the caffeine, you can get decaff.0

I feel better now because this was my answer, too. Coke Zero is my "coffee." :laugh:0 -

Have you tried Kefir milk? It's like a liquid form of yogurt. There is a lot of protein, probiotics, and it tastes good. Otherwise, I like to drink Chai Tea with my breakfast, although that is a hot drink. I don't know if you've ever tried it.0 -
Take the berries that you already allot for in your breakfast and put them in a blender with some unsweetened almond milk - delicious, healthy and you will have a drink! Also, you will only add 30 calories with a cup of unsweetened almond milk
If you want to change things up a bit, add flax seed or chia seed to the mix.0 -

I don't eat breakfast.
The first meal of the day for me, is post workout.0 -
not the most exciting answer but........coffee and/or water. drinking juices or other stuff with a lot of flavors, regardless of sugar free or not, just seems to make me crave other stuff like sodas. plus you got to have your water through out the day anyway, right?0

for some people this doesn't work. For me, I have to eat before I work out, or I run out of gas and can't complete the workout.0 -
Nothing wrong with water It's pretty much the only thing I drink besides green tea.
Also, I know your friend means well - but the way you distribute your calories throughout the day has no effect on your weight loss. You could break your calorie allotment into 5 small meals throughout the day or you could have all of your calories in one giant meal. Your body doesn't care when you eat your calories for the most part (I say for the most part because I think once you get into serious weight lifting and running marathons then the timing of when your body gets certain nutrients becomes important.)
So don't think you need to cram a ton of food into your morning meal if you don't want to0 -

Yep...
Just pointing out that if the OP wishes, she could just workout and not eat.....
The trainer is not correct....
my only point.0 -
I drink water or diet coke.0

Water or coffee is what I drink in the morning and I don't eat breakfast about 95% of time time, even when I do workout (walking or bodyweight circuit training) in the am.0
-
I drink way more water than should be healthy, plus some coffee.
I actually am starting to really enjoy drinking my breakfast. Obnoxiously, I'll post my two favorite recipes. Throw everything in a blender and turn it on.
Choco-nanner-PB:
Chocolate whey protein
one banana
1 tbsp flax seed
dash vanilla extract
1 tbsp peanut butter
ice to taste
Fruity vanilla goodness:
1 C raw spinach
1 C frozen mixed berries
1/4-1/2 C raw oats
1 tbsp flax seed
vanilla whey protein
ETA: 1/2 C nonfat, plain yogurt
These guys are tasty, filling as hell, and chock full of goodies your body craves, like electrolytes. I think these are typically used post-workout, but I like 'em anytime as a meal.0 -
Coffee......0

Water is best!! Once in a while, I squeeze me some oranges and have OJ. Daily, though, it's water.
Don't take health advice from Personal Trainers. If you want to follow their exercise program (assuming your doctor has cleared you for it), that's wonderful. But that is where it should end. Health and nutrition advice should come from doctors and dietitians.0 -
Water or coffee. I try not to drink my calories, I prefer to eat them. But that's just my preference.0
