Hey girls,
So this is the deal:
I just turned 20 and have been in the states now for nearly 4 months. my hometown's in germany- and so is my bf!!!
I've been taking the babypill for 4-5 years now. Two months ago I decided to give it a break while I'm here.
Now, since then I haven't had my period- normal in many cases. But a far worse side-effect: I HAVE PUT ON 10 POUNDS within quite a short time DESPITE a really good and mainly clean diet and frequent balanced workouts. Seriously, according to my diet and fitness routines I should be melting bodyfat healthily. And now this?!
I'm deffo not pregnant, have already double checked....

So anyone out there- have you had this same experiece before??? When will this stop:ohwell:

Hope I'm not abusing the website- but since it's weightloss related, thought it might be okay.

Thank you in advance :flowerforyou:

  • It happens quite often unfortunately! The first time I went on birth control, I gained just about 10 pounds as well.. It just happens to be one of the side effects. =/

The only thing I can think of right off, is maybe a hormone inbalance? Maybe go to your GP and have your levels drawn. Birth Control pills have hormones so you might be lacking, or have more than what you need.

i would check with your gynocologist- could be something else going on. i took depo shot for 5 years and been off it for 4 and it took me 2 years to get pregnant with my husband and im still dont have normal TOMS like i did before i started using it. best luck to you...

Hormones take a while to settle, if you are going on or going off hormones (baby pills). But, since you are eating so well and usually the weight goes on WITH the pill, instead of a break from pills, you might want to check out a few things like thyroid and other things.

Or, give it a month or 2 and see as long as no other problems are happening and you are sure you are not pregnant. Depending on the kind of baby pills you had it could take longer to level off. That doesn't mean you can't get pregnant!

As the other poster said we have terrible food here!! My husband came over from Denmark and gained 30 pounds!
  • This will probably even out. Yes it is probably hormones. If you can go to a Ob/Gyn you should go. But if it were me I would stay off the pills. Do not start them back up, until you see a doctor. Good luck, and once you get stabilized you will lose this wt that you have gained.
  • Stress is your major culprit here, even if you think you haven't been stressed out. Give it time you've made some major changes in your life, give it time and let yourself relax and then next thing you know the weight will be gone and maybe even those extra pounds that you thought you should be losing instead of gaining.

    Thank you so much :)
Yeah, first thing I'll do when I go home (approx. in a month) is go see my doc.
U know, it's just ever so frustrating. I really had myself pictured so and so (keeping it realistic) when I get home. Now this issue has kinda screwed it up a little :P
But thanks anyway, you truly are a wonderful support =)
