Using the 3DS as a pedometer?

Hey! Some of you might know that the Nintendo 3DS counts your steps while it's in sleep mode (and then stores a record of the day and translates them into coins that you can use to "buy" in-game boosts). Since I already have a 3DS (and can't really afford a FitBit or something similar), I'm thinking of just keeping it in my pocket as I go about my day to record my steps. Has anyone else used the 3DS for this? Have you found it to be accurate? Inaccurate?

Probably not very accurate...0

Maybe I'll have to steal someone's pedometer to compare counts . . . no one's tried this before?0
