HRM vent

I know that my HRM is the most accurate way of calculating calories burned while running, but sometimes I wish it weren't so accurate! For example, I ran a 5K yesterday in 38 minutes (yeah...not breaking any land speed records!). According to MFP, I would have burned 438 calories. The Nike run app has me burning 496 calories. My HRM? Only 315 calories. Darn it all!

.63 x weight in pounds x distance in miles = net calories burned. That is the comparative basis for HRM or calculator accuracy.

That's not accurate for me at all.

    A) HRMs are not the "most accurate" ; b) your running speed falls in an "in between" category where no calculation is going to be particularly accurate.

Enjoy your accomplishment (!) and pick a number in the middle somewhere.
