Good morning,

Got out for a 7.5k this morning.
I felt so happy and just glad to be alive this morning. I love my morning runs!!

Does anybody else have little issue with their sciatic nerve? My started acting up at yesterdays run but it's better now that I ran again. It always feels better once I've run again. It's weird.

Have a great day everyone!

    Mireille,

You so rock!! Good job on your run! :smooched:

I haven't had pains in my sciatic nerve (yet) but once I started running last night, my hip pain went away too. Who knows?

Guess it proves, "Baby, we were born to ruuuuuuunnnn..." :drinker: (Dang, I sing good on the internet.) :blushing:

You do sound great over the Internet!! lol
It's funny cuz I just walk some kids to the bus stop and it was bugging me again. I know the best thing for sciatica is to keep moving, so as long as I can still run, I'm good to go!!

How was your run last night?

Uh, I might be a big dummy here, but I don't even know where the sciatic nerve is??? Guess that means I'm not having trouble with it. Where ever it is it doesn't sound good. Is there anything that can be done to alleviate the pain?
I'm off for my run before it rains, maybe 5 miles today, I'm tired-dug up garden dirt by hand yesterday-all that work and the darn things will probably get eaten by rabbits:laugh:
Have a great day!:flowerforyou: Only one more day 'til the holiday weekend:drinker: -WHOO HOO!

    Good Morning buddies!!!

    Nice work Mireille!!

Shannon and I had great runs last night. We promised to tell you all about it this am!

I did 3.2 miles at my race pace (i'm a poet and don't know it!) - 26 minutes - and then took a strength training class. I wish I had a video of the instructor - she is a riot!!

My siatic nerve has been acting up lately, it hurt after my 5 miles Tuesday nite but it disipated (oh, 5 cent word of the day!!) pretty quick. My always hurts due to my darn crooked hips, so I can work through it or make the time to go to the chiropractor which is like going to the dentist for me. I hate being popped and cracked and bent - I know it is good for me, but it just unnerves me.

Shannon - how did the Icy/Hot work for you!??

Oh you would know if you had problems with siatica!! It is the pain that shoots from your thigh up your butt and into lower back. OUCH!

Good luck on your run today!!! :flowerforyou:

It worked well. The burning flesh kept my mind of the muscle pain.

I want to run at least 5 miles either Friday or Saturday, before my Memorial Day 10k. I sooooooo want to run it under a hour. The last 1/2 mile of this run is up a kick-butt hill, but I'm determined not to walk any of it this year. We'll see. :smokin:

    good luck everyone!

Good morning everyone! I don't know about sciatica, but I sometimes get pains in my shins, or my foot, or my hips when I overdo it. Usually it's after a longer run and it feels better by the next day. If it isn't gone the next day, I try take it easy when things are hurting and listen to my body. I also try to ease up to new levels instead of upping my run by a lot at one time.
Last night I did 3 miles on the elliptical after lifting weights. Tonight after work my plan is to run 5 miles. Good luck with your workouts today!:flowerforyou:

Mind over matter girl - you can and will do it!! Remember our bodies can handle WAY more than we think they can!! I cannot wait to hear all about it...

I am going to be out of the country the entire week, so I will miss you guys soooooo much. We will have lots of catching up to do when I get back (I will still be here for one more day). I have plotted out the internet cafes in Munich, but if DH sees me on this site he will explode!!! :explode:

I'd say it gets you out of buying something off the registry:laugh:

I ran between 4 and 5 miles. My arms are so sore from gardening yesterday that I actually was running with my arms hanging down for some of the last part of my run-I'm sure I was a sight:noway: I do weight training, but who knew the shovel and spade would kick my *kitten*?!?!

I have sciatic pain and went to a chiropractor for it. The thing that brings me the most relieve is stretching! Pilates really helps. It acts up after a workout but feels better when active that is for sure!!

The great distance runner Emil Zatopek, who won 3 Olympic gold medals in 1952, says it best:

"If one can stick to the training throughout the many long years, then will power is no longer a problem. It's raining? That doesn't matter. I am tired? That's beside the point. It's simply that I just have to."

    Well.......
I wasn't gonna do it. Last night was one of those nights when I was going to bed EARLY and I was gonna catch up on Idol results this morning. (:noway: ) Didn't happen. I watched through to the end and I was still gonna have a decent bed time. Turned the lights out and my mind just kept racing, thinking from one thing to the next.....I couldn't go to sleep even though I have been completely worn out during the day. So I ended up staying up a lot longer and still not going to sleep soundly until 1:00am. :grumble:

So, as I posted yesterday, I had planned a long run this morning because I had no kiddos at home today. Well, as soon as everybody was out the door, I went back to bed. I was so thankful for my mother-in-law today!! Anyway, that's my epistle for the day.

I finally pulled it together and ran 5.5miles this afternoon. Whew. Sounds like you guys are already working for the weekend. Yippee!!!

As I was reading I was thinking (no really..I was) that you blew it off today. Good job!!! :drinker:

How often do most of you run a week? I try to go 3-4 times a week, but most weeks it's just 3 times. I need to increase that, but it's hard with mine & hubs schedules.

I've been running 4 days a week pretty religiously. I'd like to run 5 but I just can't seem to get there.
I forgot to mention on this mornings post that when I came into my driveway after my run, my 4 year old was waiting for me in the window. Just watching and waiting. I thought I was going to cry cuz it was so sweet!!

    Hello all my fellow runners!

Today was the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL for my school-age kids (ages 10, 8, & 5) so I don't have to wake up before the crack of dawn to run for the whole summer! Woohoo! I'm excited about that part, but not too excited to have three whole months to figure out ways to entertain them so they don't destroy my house or each other before September...

bunnyr, I love your quote from Emil Zatopek. I've never heard of him, but I'm already a fan! Thanks for the inspiration. I think I'm starting to feel that way...

 Thanks, Shannon. I almost did blow you guys off. Mind over matter, though. I know if I can get myself dressed and going, I will feel a lot better when I finish. I always convince myself that I will go for three miles, then I can quit. Usually after I've gone 3m, I say what the hey, I can go two more.

I like to run between 3-5 days a week. It depends on how the babies are sleeping, how I'm sleeping, etc. My summer schedule is gonna be crazy because now I have downtime while my youngest one sleeps, but my older daughter will be home then, too. So, we'll work out something, because I'm not willing to give up at this point!

Oh! I also meant to share with you guys that I downloaded some new songs on my iPod. That always gets me going. Some old/some new/some Idol inspired.

    Lovestoned: Justin Timberlake
I Thought I'd Seen Everything: Bryan Adams
    Freedom '90: George Michael
    New Soul: Yael Naim
    Party People: Nelly
Geek in the Pink: Jason Mraz
Summertime: New Kids on the Block (Yeah, I did it......)
No Air: Jordin Sparks/Chris Brown (a little slow, but I still like it.)
    Mercy: Duffy
    First Time: Lifehouse

Not sure how I feel about all of them yet. I usually try to listen to them a few times to see if they'll fit in my groove. KWIM?

I run 5 days a week b/c I am training hard for an upcoming race. Then, I'll go back to my usual 4 days a week. I meet a running buddy 3 days a week at 5:45 am to avoid scheduling conflicts. I know... I am NOT a morning person either.:ohwell:

Whew... due to the outrageous Texas heat and the misbehavior of one of the dogs, we only ran 23 minutes today... about 2.5 miles. Oh well. Last week we probably over did it, so this week can be our recovery.

Yup, we got him about 2 weeks ago.
    His name is Buster.

The Wii Fit is very addicting!
There are several exercises: running (jogging in place), yoga (Love it!), strength training ( leg extensions, pushups, situps, jackknife, lunges, squats & more), hula hooping (very good for the core), aerobics using the Wii board as a step, it teaches you how to improve your balance & posture (it detects your stabilty and teaches you how to correct it) and so much more!

It was hard for me to get an actually calorie burnt total since I don't have a HRM yet so I entered it one by one (wasn't sure on the amount of time on each so I might be off on some). I burnt 136 calories in 45 minutes. Doesn't seem like much but I'm positive it was way more than that. Can't wait to get a HRM to know exactly how many cals I burn.

I can definitely feel soreness in my abs & thighs.
