This thread is one in which a new fitness and dietary challenge is posted each week. We also post our weigh-in numbers for the week on Monday (when the challenges actually start). Let's kick off 2011 with a great week!
Here are the challenges/format to post for this week: (ANY one can join in at ANY time!)
_________________________________________________________________________________________
FITNESS CHALLENGE:
Strength training needs to be combined with cardio for maximum results so lets work on adding more to our weekly routine! Try adding 45 minutes throughout the week, we can do this! (Try one of these challenges to get the ball rolling on this - http://hundredpushups.com/ and http://www.twohundredsitups.com/).
DIETARY CHALLENGE:
I'm sure that a lot of us indulged a little more than we should have over the holidays so lets watch our sodium to help shed any water weight we may have gained. Try to stay below 2000 mg sodium each day.

This is great! I really need to increase strength training!0

I tried to start a thread that involves strength training, but it didn't work out. I am glad that you started this thread because I really need the motivation to pick up the weights. I get involved in challenges that take up a lot of my time and really work, but they don't include weights, and I don't want to lose that aspect.0

STARTING WEIGHT: 172
CURRENT WEIGHT: 173
WEEK 1: Goal: 170, Actual: 171
WEEK 2: Goal: 170, Actual: 173
WEEK 3: Goal: 171, Actual: 172
WEEK 4: Goal: 171, Actual : 173
WEEK 5: Goal: 171
I'm really sick of teetering in the low 170s so my goal to reach by the end of January is to be near the mid-160s. But I guess 173 isn't bad considering we had two evil holidays (eating wise) within a week of each other.  I'm happy they're over though!
HAPPY MONDAY! :flowerforyou:0 -
Weigh in: 289.8
Met my 1/1/11 goal of 290 on 1/3/11. I'm happy with that!0 -

Today I will do 20 mins on my Total Gym and 30 mins of Turbo Fire0 -
Great challenge for this week! I'm definitely keeping a watch on my sodium after the holidays and strength training is a good way for me to get back on the exercise wagon since it's so cold out here. Although the 30s this week will be warm enough for me to get out and walk a bit. :laugh:0

Hello,
I'm brand new to this sight but I would like to do this challenge. Please bear with me while I figure out the posting. I understand the format, I'm trying to figure out how to make the post show the goals and things on the bottom of the post with the ticker. It's probably really easy I'm just not sure so any help would be great.
Thanks0 -

Anything at the bottom of peoples posts are in their "signatures", so if you want something to always be there (like my quote and ticker) then you go to the top of the page here and next to "my topics" is "signature". You can add stuff there. :flowerforyou:0 -

Went a little bit over in sodium. Oops. I blame it on the packaged soup, they always have so much sodium in them. Packed a fresh lunch today so I should be golden. Went for a long walk after work and did 10 minutes of abs and 10 minutes of various arm and leg stregth moves. Woohoo!
