Food cravings

I've just watched X Weighted families and the doctor stated that food cravings are real but the body requires nutrients to function. So if we eat processed food which has few nutrients (if any) our body will continually crave until it is fed them.
I've thought about this and I must admit that when I eat healthily I know when to stop. I never crave for another apple or orange and even if I substitute dark chocolate for milk chocolate I can stop eating it.
It may be right and it may be wrong, I'm just passing this on but it has interested me.

It sounds really logical (but then again, so many stupid theories sound like that too, haha). I know that I also never get cravings for tuna or tomatoes, LOL:D0

PikledDilli you are absolutely correct. Doritos have scientists who create ways for us to buy more & crave their products. I was process food & sugar free for about 6 months & was able to maintain my weight... HOWEVER, within weeks of getting into the holidays food frenzy I packed on 10 pounds incredibly quickly. Your information is also documented at www.weightandwellness.com. So Day 2 of getting off processed foods & sugar. I hope others understand this is a national issue.0

There is a very interesting book called "Eat to Live" by Joel Fuhrman, M.D. that explains the concepts of " nutrient-density" and its relation to "true hunger" among many other things. It is well written and provides information on nutrition that is essential to reach better health. I think you'd enjoy it.0

Thanks guys. I will look further into this because for me, if I understand what is going on, I can maintain this. I can't remember the last time I ate white bread and pasta. I have indulged in the doritos though and I couldn't stop eating them. The fuel gauge never reached full. mmmmmmm.0
