the Scale and I are not in good terms right now!!

So frustrated right now!

I have finally got the motivation and momentum back to start working out and tracking everything ( I mean EVERYTHING) that I eat on MFP!

Monday nights I do 45 mins of Box Fit, then I normally hit the gym 2-3 other evenings during the week. I do Cardio, running, etc for 1 hour.
I am on my feet most of the day moving ( run a daycare).
I have been pretty good at staying at my 1400 calories (may eat a few extras on Monday after boxfit) but for the most part, been pretty good. I drink lots of water and only 2 cups of coffee a day.
My weight was going down, and it was awesome. I was feeling great, and was happy to see the numbers decreasing. I re-started 2 weeks ago at 236.7....and then I got down to 229.7...
Last week (Tuesday the day after box fit) I stepped on the scaleand it read 238.8....WTF...how did that happen. But i stuck to it, kept exercising, eating within range and moderation, and stepped on the scale today and a whole 0.1 lb i LOST....now at 238.7!

How the HECK does that happen???

Can that be right, how and why would i gain almost 10 lbs? Weighed the same time, same scale.

If you have just started exercising your muscles might be retaining water to recover.

Have you eaten foods high in salt this will also cause water retention.

Take measurements to see if there are changes there the scales suck sometimes

if you're near your TOM that could do it too (I retain water weight around ovulation and again the week before my period, it's a joy)

This is so true! I haven't gotten on the scale at all this week because Aunt Flo is visiting but the few days before I had went up at least 5lbs its very nerve racking but we gotta remember. Being a female sometimes sucks lol. Also, retaining water cause we have to much sodium in our diet seems to really put us out as well as that. And I seem to crave the salty items like pickles and cashews at that time.. Either way.. Give it a few weeks and see if maybe if its not that , maybe its muscle gain. It should reduce if its turned muscle as your body then burns the fat remaining. Good Luck!

I agree re salt and its effects. Watch your intake. Also, do take body measurements once per week. I have flatlined re weight loss, yet lost an inch or two. Seeing that keeps me positive. Do you weigh yourself at the same day/time every week? I would recommend in the AM, after going to the bathroom and before breakfast. And if you have restarted or really increased your exercising, you are building muscle and that weighs something!

Exercise builds muscle and muscle weighs more. That being said, what does the MFP say when you turn in or complete your food log? Make sure you are getting enough protein and just enough carbs. Watch the process foods they seem to stop me from loosing. Loosing weight while exercising is hard work. The balancing act between enough calories to lose and enough but not too many or too little calories is hard to understand. If you can talk to a nutritionist. Sometimes there is someone who has that knowledge at the gyms. Good luck. This happened to me when I was riding bike each day for almost 10 miles.

Which is really funny because I'm already a twin...although my sister and I are fraternal twins and don't really look alike. Hey, I'll have to post some better pictures so you can see what we look like at 192lbs. You can also check out the pics on my profile if you want to see what we look like at 235 and 9 months pregnant. lol

Also, higher carb foods (which we might crave during our TOM) can retain even more water than other types of food. Don't know why this is, but for some reason, it does. But yes, maybe water retention.
