Out of control sweet tooth

I just recently quit drinking caffeine (I make an exception for chocolate though), and since then, my sweet tooth has been out of control!
I know enough about biology and nutrition to know why, but I hadn't anticipated it, so I'm finding the situation to be really annoying, and I'm gaining weight back. I'm not sure how much since I don't own a scale, but my stomach sticks out furthers than my boobs, and it didn't do that last week!
Any advice? After my body's used to no caffeine will I stop wanting to eat everything with a coating of powdered sugar on it?

Someone once told me that when I have a sweet craving, to have the highest quality dark chocolate I could find. Otherwise, you graze on alternatives searching for the intensity you are craving and end up racking up more calories. Works for me most of the time. Sometimes I will even drive to Fanny Mae and buy one piece of any kind of chocolate I want. If it is not in the house or not in a package, I eat less of it. Driving to the store for my piece of good chocolate gives me time to think about it, makes me accountable publicly, and makes fulfilling my sweet tooth an "event".0

What helps me (although I do allow myself some sweets) is Good Earth caffeine free tea in Original Sweet & Spicy. I find that hot and REAL flavorful tea works well. Every other type of tea I try is not as flavorful as this one. I drink a lot of it - especially at night0

i find the dark chocolate trick works for me also.
I have a shocking sweet tooth at the best of times so I look for things like very rich dark chocolate (you eat a lot less of it!) or have a lollipop which you can suck on for a while.0 -
I've found that really cold grape tomatoes have cut down my sweet cravings alot. Other sweet fruits don't seem to do it for me, because they don't have any bite to them like the tomatoes do. And, the boost of energy is a plus in that slump in the day right after lunch.0

I eat a protein bar everyday......... it is just like eating a candy bar, but way less calories. I had to try a lot of different ones before I found one I liked though. My favorite is carb conscious peanut butter..... so yummy!!!0
