    Wow, great pictures!

Depends on how long before dinner...

If less than 2 hours, go for faster carbs: (about 125 calories)
    - A piece of fruit or a small (~5 oz.) fruit salad
    - A homemade trail mix made up of .5 c of multi-grain cereal and .25 c of dried fruit.
    - Whole grain bread, perhaps toasted, with apricot preserves
    - Two rice cakes with hummus

If more than 2 hours, go for some longer-lasting protein (about 175 calories)
    - Two hard-boiled eggs
    - A serving of deluxe mixed nuts
    - 1.5 oz smoked salmon on a half mini-bagel
    - Whole grain bread, perhaps toasted, with peanut or almond butter

A few suggestions that always fill me up:

    Peanut butter and crackers
Or, peanut butter with apple slices
    Hummus and Triscuits
    Air popped popcorn
A few slices of deli meat, one slice of cheese divided, and condiments of your choosing to make a few roll-ups

What time do you get off of work? Can you just eat dinner right away or is it too early? I don't know why I'm so curious. I just eat dinner when it's evening and I'm hungry and then dessert if I need more.

Most nights I get home about an hour for dinner so it's no biggee BUT once in a while I start feeling peckish around the time I leave work and that's about 2 hours before dinner. Most of the time I try to ignore it and just power through but I try to keep an extra pack of 100 cal cocoa roast almonds in my lunch bag just in case. If I don't have any extra calories to spare, I might just chew some gum, drink water and/or have some diet soda (the carbonation helps me feel full and the sweetness can stave off cravings).

Mostly though, tweaking your food choices might be the right answer. If it happens often enough, maybe you're not getting enough protein and fats at lunch to help keep you full? Maybe you need a more filling afternoon snack?
