I started my jouney back to health a week ago today, I had orginally went to the doc who put me on 1200 calories a day, 45 mins of cardio 5-6 days a week and gave me phentermine. After coming here and learning more about phentermine and taking it for one day with HORRIBLE side effects I decided to do this the healthy way. It needs to be a life change, not a diet. I just keep reading where it's unhealthy to lose more than two lbs per week, I've lost 9 this week . I did the 1200 caloreis a day and the 45 min cardio, and just wanted to see if anyone thought I needed to up my calorie intake maybe?? Is it ok since I'm so heavy and maybe it's that 1st week water weight???

Need advice.

**** don't take me wrong, I'm ESTATIC at the weight loss, just want to make sure it's healthy****

Thanks, this place is what is actually giving me the motivation and strength to decide not to use the phentermine!! The doc also gave me this web address and I've been hooked every since. I know it's going to be what helps me make it this time!!

Are you eating your exercise calories? If not, then you're having too big a deficit and that's not good.

Also, I have a lot to lose, too (still over 100 to go) and I have lost 32 in 2 months. People like us do tend to lose more at first simply because we have more to lose and it takes more calories burnt to get our bodies moving. We have a higher Basal Metabolic Rate then lighter people, which means we can also have a larger daily deficit yet still stay at 1200 caloriers a day (a healthy amount)>

Congrats on the healthy choices and the stick-with-it-ness!

Yes, the first few weeks is when you'll be seeing the larger numbers. The only reason you should consider changing the number of calories (or quality) is if you feel as though you are starving and drained the whole day. Are you eating the calories that you burn in your 1200?

I'm usually eathing about half my excercise calories, and i'm not hungry at all!!! It was also recommended that I eat 30 fiber grams daily, I'm doing that and it keeps me full.

That's why I love this place, the support!! :flowerforyou:
