Plateau?

I've lost my first twenty pounds, but during the no scale challenge I wasn't tracking my weight. I only lost one pound that whole month! I feel like I've come to a grinding halt as far as losing is concerned. I never go over my calories, and I eat *most* of my exercise calories that I earn. It's just frustrating to work your a*s off (literally!) and not seem to be getting anywhere.

Hey girl - stress will also mess with your body's ability to lose weight. Just a thought since you've been under a lot of stress lately . . .

Keep truckin at it though - you are still helping your body and when things level off a bit and the stress hormones go back down you will drop it like a rock. In theory anyway

I'm with you GTO. I've lost 20 pounds and seem to be stuck there. Hopefully if we just keep plugging along we'll get past the plateau.

I think you are doing awesome. And like MontanaGirl said stress could be a factor. But have you done the tape measure thingie? I have only lost 8 lbs so far but I have dropped 5 inches(mostly in the boobs). Just keep doing what you are doing and I believe you are gonna see amazing results. Good luck and take care. :flowerforyou:

every body is different but i just wanted to say i too hit that plateau but at 25 pounds and i just kindof forgot about it all for 2 weeks(such as no strict diet but watching what i was eating and changed my exersice all around but not scheduled) and now im back to 1200 cal and strict 5 day work outs and i started losing again

dont give up remember it is a life change not just a few weeks of dieting we all deserves a break sometimes

Hello FL...I know when I hit the plateau it was amping up the cardio that worked to breakthrough. Cardio is my least favorite thing to do...but I am telling you...it worked for me before.

Eat a little more 1 day a week. It usually works for me. Breaks my plateau every time!

Stress will do it! I agree with that!

Maybe get a new scale? My new one I got yesterday weighs me 7 pounds less than my old--so I lost 7 pounds overnight! When I entered my new weight on MFP, it threw up a warning about needing to redo all my information, which I did, then my ticker crashed

I think theres a 20lb adjustment epriod. After my 20 lbs I wouldnt budge any lower for 4 whole weeks. I treid everything. Increased calories, changed exersise and so on. I think your body just takes some tie to readjust and really take in the fact that this is not trend but the 20 lbs are gone for good. Hormones and thinga also have to adjust and I believe that too happens durring that 4 week period.

    GTO and others -

I was going to post this same topic today! i have been at a plateau for going on two weeks now. I have turned up my workouts a notch or two - didn't work -

I am now going to increase my calories and see if that works....Just had my first cheat meal in two weeks too!! yum!

Honestly though, I had a great feeling this morning as I tried on many outfits that were too big, I realized I didn't care so much about the number as much as I used to - I felt good! I am eating healthy, exercising my butt off and obviously losing inches....this site has worked wonders for me mentally!
