I started this journey about a month ago at 223 pounds and currently I am 215. I have totally eliminated my over eating, snacking at night, junk food, fast food. I am eating clean with less carbs daily maintaining 1200 calories count. I power walk min 3 miles a day loosing about 450 calories which gets added back on to my days calorie. My confusion is why I remain at my current weight of 215 for the past week and half when I have changed my ways of eating and exercising daily.
I hear so many loosing weight with simply eliminating certain foods and here I am eliminating so many foods
Can someone shine a light on this and help me out please
Thank you

With that much exercise, you could likely be underestimating your caloric intake. Try measuring/weighing/logging everything you eat for a week or two and see how that works out for you. Drinking water will also help.0

I am going down that same path and experienced the same thing. I have always struggled with my weight and had a poor "typical" diet of processed and fast foods. Don't get discouraged; don't quit the wonderful progress you are making; don't doubt what you are doing.
Get militant if you need to and don't give yourself a break or make excuses. I found that I would often make little excuses of "it's just one" "it's just a little" "it's just this one time" and I was setting myself up for failure. If you're doing that try to stop because it does add up.
I found a little shock to the system once in a while will shake me off my plateau. Like a fruit fast for a day or two. Avoiding meats and substituting with non-meat proteins like tofu or hummus. People may disagree but I find that it's not just the calories but the type of calories. Are they fatty meats, bread, fried foods, saturated fats OR... are they whole foods, green and colorful, fresh and crisp. Your foods should be as colorful as possible - eat the rainbow. Try shopping only from the perimeter of the grocery store. Stay out of the processed food isles and if the ingredients aren't real food then don't buy it.
I also try to use cardio exercise as a bonus and I try not to eat the extra calories I burn when I work out. So if I burn 300 I won't eat 300 more that day. Those bonuses will add up to. Think of it as a gift to yourself - not a means to eat a little more that day.
I hope this helps a little and good luck to us both! Stay motivated!0 -
I do log everything and I even learned the weighing of foods and understanding the how much of something is
I drink about 2 1/2 liters of water and maybe that is not enough per day.
Just frustrating to understand why my body does not loose the weight easier0 -
Oh your so right about what you wrote
. I do the same not eat what I lost and when you complete your entry for the day it tells you, you wont lose weight because your under your calorie count lol
I never thought of changing my ways of eating and I will give that a try. I am just afraid to eat too much fruit because of the sugar it contains but I have to educate myself more on what to eat and what not to eat.0 -
It's definitely a journey and I've been really trying to learn the last year about all the different food there are out there besides pizza and cheeseburgers! The more you learn the easier good food choices will be to make. Don't be afraid to try to new things! Quinoa, kale, hummus, brown rice, spaghetti squash, bok choy, tofu, etc... I've spent the last year learning and totally changing my diet, now I just recently returned to MFP to try to get a handle on my daily calorie count. Good luck!0

are you actually weighing the food your logging?
also, weight loss isn't linear. You might not lose for a week, then whoosh.. the scale drops.
When the scale hasn't moved in 6 weeks, then you've basically found your maintenance calories... at that point, eat less.
...but it ALL goes back to how accurate you're logging.
Also, don't freak out about fruit, it's delicious and good for you.
you certainly aren't new here, but here are some links that might help
This…
and I'll throw in a couple more…

Some weeks can be frustrating! What I've learned is the weeks where my sodium intake is high and my water intake is low- the scale won't budge. I swim for 2 hours, 4 days a week which is equal to about 3600 calories or 1 pound of fat. I eat 1900 calories per day which still gives me a weekly deficit to lose 1.5 pounds. Once in awhile that scale won't budge for 10+ days. Then, all of sudden it will be down 3 or 3.5 pounds.
As long as you are creating a calorie deficit, over time you WILL lose weight. Don't get discouraged.0
