okay i need a general consensus to decide what the hell to do....

i weigh weekly on Saturday (well i record weekly lol i probably weigh 3-4 times a week)

i have my goal on MFP to lose 1 lb a week and am happy with that....

i have monthly goals on the calendar on the 2nd Saturday of each month so as not to clutter up the whole calendar with 1lb less each week....BUT when i reach that Saturday and i have made the goal or haven't made it - i have been adjusting the goal weight for each month going forward and i'm wondering if i should or shouldn't?????

can't tell you if it helps or hurts lol i just know it is quite annoying when i have to shift 12 months of the 2nd Saturday forward cause that is about what i have left to lose...

1/8 - GOAL 198
2/12 - GOAL 193
3/12 - GOAL 189
4/9 - GOAL 185
5/14 - GOAL 180
6/11 - GOAL 176
7/9 - GOAL 172
8/13 - GOAL 167
9/10 - GOAL 163
10/8 - GOAL 158
11/12 - GOAL 154
12/10 - GOAL 150
1/14 - GOAL 145
thoughts? suggestions?

Honestly I wouldn't shift it because it would drive me crazy. BUT I also don't do monthly goals. I figure out rough estimates and give my self X time to lose til the next "big" goal (you can see my siggie). I've given myself leeway because no weight loss program is perfect and there are going to be GREAT weeks and CRUMMY weeks. So they aren't exactly what they should be. Right now I'm RIGHT on target for my last goal of 199 by new years but you can see I don't have my 50lbs goal til Valentine's day. I'm sure I'll hit that sooner. I probably won't readjust til the June goal. If I'm ahead of the curve great :D

I would say generalize your goals a bit more. Instead of 4.5 lbs per month and string it out for a year, look back at what you have done and say "what can I lose by....fill in the gap." Maybe every 3 months, the change of the seasons, holidays, whatever. Some weeks you may lose more, some less. By having such a narrow/strict goal on yourself you may make it harder to meet them and then the following letdowns will sabotage your hard work. I'd say if you've been averageing 4 lbs. a month then maybe shoot for 20lb by fourth of July. Gives you wiggle room for weeks you lose less, but will make it that much sweeter if you hit it before the target. Just need to sit down and realistically set a functional goal for yourself or you'll stress out. Good luck! Happy Dieting.

    I'm with them:

St. Patrick's 10 lbs (as you are already in that group)
    Then maybe Easter?
    Memorial Day
    4th of July
    and so on.

so i am keeping the monthly goals on the spreadsheet but changing the goals in my calendar/phone to only be the 5-6 listed in my signature...i'm working towards st. patty's day right now since i'm in a challenge on here and then towards 4th of july and then my birthday in october and then new years 2012 and then MAINTAINING around valentines 2012.....less adjusting in my calendar and less stress and pressure on myself too i think....
thanks for the input, i do appreciate others opinions on stuff like this...
