cortisol

I am looking to connect with someone who has some experience with weight loss associated with the company one is keeping NOT related to consumption. Get this: I have been struggling for quite some time and just became obsessed with finally making progress. So I got SERIOUS. Tracking every single thing I was doing/not doing, eating/not eating, sleep, exercise, spirituality, etc.
There in my progress charts was a pattern. Every single time I came in contact with a particular person, I gained weight. I am very aware of the fact that the person irritates me - one of those antagonistic personalities, refuting or questioning every single damn statement one makes, bite one takes, etc. I had reason to be in their presence whether I liked it or not. Anyway, at first, I thought it was due to meals consumed during that time. I couldn't understand it because calorie count was within my target range. I, then, decided not to eat during these encounters. No change, still gained! Wow.
Could this be the result of cortisol? And has anyone else detected such a pattern? When I saw this, I was just blown away. There it was right in front of me. I have, finally, after a couple of years of struggling, been able to see consistent progress in weight loss, but every couple of weeks when I would encounter this person, I would gain back a couple of pounds with all other factors remaining the same. Thanks to the charts provided by MYFITNESSPAL, I can see this pattern very clearly. Just interested in whether or not this is something relatively common. Thanks guys.

Okay, I just love this! Being a high stress type A- my first thought was "What if you're married to them"?, second "What if you work for them"? third "What if I just hate people"? laughsssssssssssssss.0

I had a blood test to check my cortisol and is was high which makes sense as I am permanently stressed for all sorts of reasons and always have been. I have also always been fat since early childhood.
I notice it from the other perspective. Twice in my life I managed to lose weight relatively easily for a while and both times were happier more stable times in my life. I also notice that I tend to drop a couple of lb after spending time with my best friend who I do not get to see that often. We often go out for a meal so if anything I eat more than usual but I always feel very relaxed and content with this person so I think my cortisol levels must drop and maybe that helps my body work better. I asked my doctor if she could give me something to reduce my cortisol levels and she said there is nothing available to do that medically. Antidepressants never helped me.
Yes I think stress and the resulting elevated cortisol is bad news for health in general and that probably includes metabolic disturbance or something along those lines. Some people lose weight when stressed so like most things it is individual I guess.0
