MFP Goals Question

When entering your goals on MFP do you enter your overall goal or your short term goals in increments and adjust as necessary? I know there's no right or wrong way to do it, but just curious what other's preferences are. I used to have my UGW entered, but have since changed it to short term goals and adjusting when I reach them, and I feel it had helped me a lot more (clearly a subconscious thing, but hey, I'm down 43 lbs!)

When I started my account I set my goal to what I thought was going to be my end goal weight (maybe not my UGW but somewhere I felt comfortable) now that I'm only 1lb away I can tell that I won't be stopping here and now I want to loose about 18-20 more pounds. I don't want to adjust my ticker though because it's a really good feeling to see the ticker hit 0! =D

I think everyone's goals change over time so adjusting as you go seems to be a good way to set goals. Setting your ticker to your UGW can be a little discouraging I think because it seems to far away. Life for me if I saw I had like 80lb to go and I was only half way there after 10 months on MFP I'd be a little sad haha.

Whatever works best for you is the way to go. For me I've put my ultimate goal but I still make mini goals in my mind and that is helpful when the overall goal starts to feel daunting and far away. Congrats on 43lbs that's awesome!

I originally set it to what I thought I wanted, but when I got there, I decided I wanted to keep going, so I adjusted it. and, mfp does NOT do anything special when you reach your set goal. I checked. ;)

I have mine set to the weight I was before I gained. Once I hit that goal it will change.
